Christmas: Before, During and After

So after a bit of a break from posting on the website, we are attempting to cover the time off and set our sights on the coming New Year.

Christmas was just awesome this year in spite of all the “flu-like” symptoms. It was still delightful to be together and have time with each other.

It took a bit of maneuvering for everyone to get to Canada. Lisa spent months trying to figure out time off and plane flights and rental cars and finally managed to out-smart the airlines and the car rental people and the people at work and was at home for Christmas in spite of it all. Joan, Alec, Brigham, and JR, and John, Amy, and little Lily had quite the journey but got here without mishap. Karren didn’t have much time off but was here for some of the important Christmas day activities. Janet and Adam and Clark and Grant and little Peter did a very good job of being patient and waiting for everyone.

Finally everyone had arrived and the festivities began. We had fun in the gym and out at the farm. We spent time with Grandma Karren helping to put up her tree. We made some marvelous food for Christmas Eve and then of course there was the wagon ride around town on the very, very cold and dark night. The Christmas lights on all the houses were fun to see though and there was some nice hot chocolate to help keep everyone warm. We had a lovely little Devotional and opened pajamas before hanging up the stockings and getting ready for bed.

Of course Christmas morning was wonderful as was Christmas day. There were too many presents, too much food but not nearly enough time. Lisa had to head back much earlier than we wanted her to. John and Amy weren’t home for many more days and it wasn’t long before everyone was back home and Grandma and Grandpa had to get used to the quiet again. Although there were a few bad days of several in the family getting sick, everyone seemed to survive and enjoy being together in spite of it all.

In the end Brigham, expressed it well.

It was great!
