Easter?

The years of 2020 and 2021 will go down in the “Leishman History Book” as unique, challenging and out of the ordinary. Creativity and resiliency are the descriptions of what transpired in the Leishman household. Usually for Easter Grandma and Grandpa and those who want and can go with them, take a vacation somewhere in the world. Covid prevented that these past two years and so Grandma and Grandpa were “stay at home vacationers.” They played with the grandkids as much as they could.

The weather wasn’t all that warm but there were a few outside projects that were accomplished. The wood pile is now all neatly stacked with newly split wood and the lawns have all been raked and are ready for mowing. Yea!!

When the weather was miserable there was plenty of play inside.

Because of the recent shut down in Alberta, all of the libraries were closed up again so Janet pre-emptively made a trip to the library and took out as many books as they would let her sign out and Clark was in Heaven surrounded with more books than he could hold. Clark has agreed to limit his reading during the day so that it isn’t the only thing that he does, but he still sneaks in a bit more than his mother would like, which is such a strange phenomenon.

There has been plenty of work to do inside. Renovations are certainly a challenge and there isn’t a room in the house that hasn’t been disrupted.

All of the mess hasn’t kept Grandpa from watching TV in the kitchen and growing his little seeds in the garage. He was totally motivated by Joanie’s hot house and wanted to try growing things inside too. Grandma has found a place to keep up on the website and doing the taxes and bills.

Grandpa got his second Covid shot and has a certificate to prove it. Grandma is jealous and is anxiously awaiting her second shot and Grandma Karren should get her second shot this coming week. We are anxious to get this Covid thing finished so we can travel again.

Karren is still sequestered and doesn’t see many people in real life but she has plenty of people she is dealing with in her ward. She made a delicious Grapefruit pie and has been helping Grandma and Grandpa “travel” the world. They are going to visit every country in the World as soon as they can. As they said in the last website there are over 194 countries to visit and this week they are studying Albania. It is a fascinating country with some delicious recipes.

Lisa is trying to figure out her future and we are anxiously hoping that she can at least break free of Chicago for a holiday soon!

Joanie and Alec and JR and Brigham are celebrating Easter and the “Easter Vacation” the best they can. Joanie does spend a great deal of time every week helping Grandma with the website and we are so grateful that she is willing to help. We do love hearing and seeing about each other.

Janet and Adam and Clark and Grant and little Peter have not been able to go many places because of Covid, just to visit Grandma and Grandpa.

Then there are John and Amy. Not only does Covid cause a few changes in their lives but right now a new little baby girl is on the brink of discovering earth and everyone is anxiously waiting for her to land soon, especially Amy. Hopefully, next week there will be some exciting news.

Meanwhile, we will keep adapting, being resilient and happy doing what we can but next year not only will Christmas be one amazing get together but so will Easter. A huge reunion is in order. Grandma will get the food if everyone else will do the games. Grandpa you must be in charge of the travel arrangements!!!
