ON FIRE
Dry conditions and strong wind spread fire near Magrath
Mar 20, 2021 6:26 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — The Magrath Fire Department was called out to a grass fire this (Sat) afternoon. The active situation was along the south trail near the fishpond and headgates. The strong west wind made for a fast-moving fire.
There’s no immediate information on what caused the fire.
Helpers responded from area Hutterite colonies to offer extra man power.

Oh my, it was an exciting weekend. In the middle of all of our activities we heard and saw all of the ambulances and firetrucks and people swarming to the spill gates to see this massive grass fire. It took several hours to put out the fire and no one knows yet how it started but it did cause some wreckage in the creek bottom and a lot of excitement in the town. We hope that it didn`t destroy too many trees. It is such a lovely spot to go for a run. Everyone came to help, including some fire crews from the Hutterite colonies close to town.

Besides the fire there was a lot of work accomplished. The new door is in out at the farm at the quonset. It makes a very warm, safe clean place that neither mouse nor fly can penetrate. It is actually awesome.

There was plenty of work that needed to be done but also a lot of work that actually got done. Grandpa is working very hard to make the yard nice. Raking and cleaning and fixing up is always a good thing. His latest project, besides raking and cleaning up, is rearranging the wood pile. He relishes the work but Grandma is wondering if it isn`t a little overwhelming.

It started as a one day project but after it was decided that the shed needed to be painted first and that all of the flower pots needed to be rearranged and all of the wire rolled up it has been a rather prolonged several day ordeal. It will be nice to get it done. Grandpa is excited to get a log splitter and make it a work of art!
Everyone has been working hard outside. Joanie and Alec have been taking out bushes and Adam and Janet have been taking down fences and cleaning up.
Clark has been working hard at baseball camp and Grant and Peter and Janet have been working hard at supporting him.

Brigham and JR have been working hard too ;-)

John and Amy are working hard at getting this new baby here on earth and Karren and Lisa are just working.
Grant is working diligently at staying alive.

Somehow his head hit the ground pretty hard after someone pushed him in a swing a little bit too vigorously. Then somehow he broke his toe after it got smashed into a rock.

We hope that he survives to manhood. Clark drew a picture of Grant`s accident and being pushed on the swing too hard.

The week was not all work and there was plenty of play too. Karren finished another hard puzzle.

Clark`s green birthday cake was devoured.

And JR had a very quiet but very happy birthday. HURRAY!!! Chrissy, Adam's sister who has been watching Brigham and JR this year, moved back to Canada this week. Everyone is very sad to see them go!

There was plenty of playing on the golf course.

And the geese are everywhere.
Janet and Adam have found a new toy and it is even fun to play on in the cold. (Pictures to come!)
Lisa is working hard as usual. She assures us that she has a few moments of fun and play but we are anxious to be sure that there are things she has that are fun to do every day.
We don`t know how much fun the last few weeks of a pregnancy can be but we are sure John and Amy are doing their best to get through this next little bit before they are brand new parents!
So, for this week it has been fun, fires, work, play and staying alive. Isn`t that all one could ask for!
