NEVER A DULL MOMENT!

Some people say that January is a dull, dark and boring month especially in the North part of the world. But Grandma and Grandpa don’t agree with that feeling at all. Although it may be darker longer there is always something to do. Truly there is never a dull moment because there are so many unexpected fun things that happen.
For example, the first of this week started out with these beautiful sunrises

and then in the middle of the morning these horrific winds blew through with sheets of snow and a great deal of wind damage. Strange enough, right during the worst of the storm there was this most beautiful rainbow because the sun was still shining in the east. It was quite the scene.

Peter and Grant came to play one afternoon when Janet had a dentist appointment and they had fun playing with Grandma. Grant did the most awesome puzzle mostly by himself and then he played with Peter until Clark came over at the end of school. Then much to their mother’s chagrin they all had a matinee and watched “Cloudy with Meatballs.” It was a marvelous afternoon.

Grandma had a birthday this week to add to all of the happy moments. She got flowers and treats that she loved. (And hopefully, to add to the texts and calls we all sent her, Mom knows that when our lives get hard, or when we are in a bind, or when we simply need someone to listen, she is our champion. Your bright spirit and passion for helping others inspires us all to love and serve each other. Thank you for loving us all so much!)

Grandma and Grandpa also got out all their star gazing and night sky books and maps and apps and charts and grandma’s new toque with a headlamp and they headed out several nights this past week to learn more about the stars and the constellations. The nights were calm and fairly warm and the sky was brilliant at least on one night. The second night they ventured out was rather cloudy and they could only see one star but it was fun nevertheless.

They have set up their new TV and have had a myriad of projects on the go. They have tried harder to eat better and even have used many of the spices that were arranged so nicely by Joanie to use on new recipes. It has been so interesting and intriguing to see what you can come up with just using what you have right in your very own cupboard.
Grandpa was supposed to get his Covid vaccine but they wouldn’t let him because he had been given the Shingles shot this past month too and they didn’t think that it was safe so he is slated for another time.
We do wish the Covid stuff would end and we could see everyone again but there are lots of things we have learned because of the lock down, like there is never a dull moment if you cook with saffron.:)
