Grandma predicted this one. And she nailed it. She claimed there would be at least one or two weeks of bitter cold weather before the winter was finished.
Guess what! It has been at least one week of bitter cold weather with minus 20 or so weather with it even colder with wind chill and it looks like it may last at least another week. Brrrrr!!!!!
It made running outside a real challenge.

Because it was so cold Grandpa’s glasses kept fogging up and so he had to wear his contacts but that was a slight problem too. Don’t you just love Grandpa’s frozen eyebrows and eyelashes?
The problem with that is that there is warmer weather down south. That is where Grandma and Grandpa would go if they could for at least a week in February but alas, that is not to be for this year. Next year there will be such awesome holidays as we get to do all the things we want to do. Instead this year we have built a lot of fires.

Grandma and Grandpa had to haul a lot of wood. Grandma would like you to notice who did the yeoman’s work to get the wood stacked neatly close to the back, basement door. :)

Joanie and Alec and Brigham and JR love their back yard adventures with their tent and even though Brigham has had the chance to go skiing he and JR also had to chance to run around a bit in their swimming suits during the day. We are all a little jealous.

But then Clark and Grant and Peter have been able to go skating and help around the house. Clark has also been trying out his new reading glasses.

We are sure he can see immensely better. :)
We are sure that John and Amy and their chickens have been enjoying the warm weather as well. We wonder if they have built any fires too?
Karren has had to battle miserable roads and some lights that keep coming on and off “Willy Nilly” in her little place. She has tried to replace the switches and reset units but the lights just keep going on and off on their own. Grandma thinks she may have to call the “Ghostbusters” of Calgary so they can take care of the strange problem.

Although, Lisa has not had quite the same bad weather in Chicago as in Calgary, she has still had some miserable days commuting.

Pandemic combined with cold weather does make it so that it can be a little disheartening at times. So to battle the blahs, Grandma and Grandpa have begun and few projects that may snowball :) into way more work than they bargained for. They started in the basement and put in new blinds.

Then Grandpa finished off the new TV downstairs

and so he had to figure out what to do with the old TV. He decided to take the plunge and dismantle the old “China Cabinet” in the kitchen. So they spent a good portion of Saturday moving things about and taking things down. With a little help, they finally got the cabinet taken apart and put in the garage.

Grant and Clark made some delicious “slushy freezies” from the clean, fluffy snow outside and chocolate sauce and crystal light. They were delicious.

After everything was taken down the kitchen looked very empty so they put the old TV on the ground where the cabinet used to be until they can find something that they can put it on.

So the kitchen renovations have begun.
Grandma predicted that it would be a big, big job and again………… She was RIGHT!
