Preparing

As we quietly slip into March, Spring quivers on the brink of winter’s last gasp of trying to avoid its eventual demise. (How was that for poetic!) Anyway, Spring is on its way. You can feel it in the air and you hear the birds like the geese and the nuthatches and flickers. But it is always so variable: cold one day, warm the next, sunny, cloudy, windy calm. It is like watching a little chick hatch out of an egg, it takes so much work. Knowing the spring is around the corner, we enter a time of preparing.

At the farm everyone is excited about the new door and fixing up the quonset. They are selling the rest of the grain and getting ready to seed and fertilize next year’s crops. The little boys are learning how to drive and Grandma is excited to see that Peter wants to learn how to drive a lawn mower. (A man after her own heart!)

Joanie and Alec and Brigham and JR are preparing by planting seedlings in their little green house. And there has been some serious preparing for future high school dances as Brigham and JR dance to the Chipmunks and “The Witch Doctor.” (One of Grandma’s Favorites)

Karren has been preparing Relief Society lessons and her own classes for the course she is taking on tropical medicine.

Lisa as always is preparing for work and work and work and work. We think she needs to play a little bit more and maybe take a chance and leave for a holiday in the near future. That is always something to prepare for.

Then there are Amy and John. They are furiously preparing for this new little one. They had a baby shower for Amy by Zoom and it was fun to see how excited everyone is to have this new personality come into our families.

There is always something exciting about getting ready, preparing and then being ready for upcoming events. So we are grateful that we can prepare.
