Well weren’t we all in for a surprise. Those who are in Provo and Chicago will roll their eyes when they hear our expressions of delight here in Canada that summer still lingers. In fact, today it is predicted that it will get up to 32 Degrees Celsius that is 89.6 degrees in Fahrenheit and although that may seem mild to you hot people in the south it means sizzling hot up here in Alberta. In fact there has been a weather heat warning posted this morning alerting everyone that is going to be hot, hot, hot! It is all a matter of perspective but we are truly happy to have a few more days to play.
Grandpa started two weeks of being off work. Although, as has been stated just recently, “the only place to go is nowhere.” Or, “all dressed up and no where to go,”(Check out this link that Amy found about the little girl that is just fed up with it all. Quarantine life isn’t easy, #usatodya#coronavirus.) We are nevertheless, glad for the break. Grandpa and Grandma have learned they can be happy just doing what needs to be done around home.
They started harvesting in earnest. There was one sour cherry tree that gave enough cherries for some yummy cherry pies.

Picking and dealing with all the apples has become a giant endeavor. Grandma secretly wonders why in the world grandpa planted so many apple trees.

They have spent many hours watering and pruning and taking care of their little orchard. Now they are battling racoons that stripped one cherry tree completely of all its cherries. It was very brazen of the little critter. :( By the way they did finally capture the Grizzly Bear and shipped him way up north somewhere where he won’t be able to get back here anytime soon.
The hay has been harvested and is in nice little round bundles and the rest of the crops should be harvested soon –if it doesn’t hail. Keep your fingers crossed

Janet and Adam are harvesting their very wonderful garden and Clark as Iron man and Grant have been helping.

Peter is crawling and eating and growing. He went from being on the 20th percentile for height and weight to being on the 80th percentile. The nurse was a little surprised and hoped that they were able to feed him enough to nourish is rapidly growing little body. Maybe that has something to do with him not sleeping well at night. He is constantly hungry.
School has become an issue of concern both in Magrath and in Provo. Everything is up in the air and it will be interesting to see how things play out.
Amy and John did some bona fide star gazing. They drove out to a deserted road near the west desert and could see the night sky and all the stars. This was a picture of what they saw.

If you look really close, you may be able to see some little points of light. Research has classified star gazing in the desert as being a romantic endeavor. The stars become a bit of a side issue they claim. :) They also spent a lovely day having a picnic at the Manti temple.

Joanie, Alec, Brigham, and JR had fun on the lake tubing and playing in a very tiny "pool" outside. It is very hot in Provo!

Karren came home for the weekend and although it has to be a bit boring, she did get roped into helping at the farm. She made this most delicious Italian pasta salad with fresh tomatoes and basil. It was nice to use some of the things we had grown. She is still up to her neck with Church and work.
Lisa is still in lock down in Chicago. Chicago has had its fair share of trouble lately because of shootings and lootings and plain unexplained vandalizing in the downtown core. Although Lisa is mainly in the suburbs, it still affects the whole city with traffic and downtown being shut down. We hope and pray for everyone in these strange times that they will be safe and protected from all harm or accident.
In spite of all the trouble, there is still a world out there, even though we haven’t seen much of it lately. This is a little news item that Grandma’s friend sent her this week. It features a rather charming incident involving a “Cool Cowboy.”
